FoundWall is designed to help people exchange recovery information without turning a possible lead into a public accusation or a physical confrontation.
Do not confront anyone
A listing, sighting, or message is information — not proof that a person committed a crime. If you believe you located stolen property, preserve the information and use the appropriate authorities rather than arranging a confrontation.
Keep sensitive details private
Do not publish your home address, full serial number, microchip number, police occurrence number, receipt, insurance document, or information about another person's private address or contact details.
Verify a found-item claim
If you found something, keep at least one distinctive detail out of the public post. Ask a claimant to describe that characteristic privately before arranging a return.
Treat money requests as high risk
Be skeptical of anyone who claims to have your property or pet but asks for an advance fee, gift card, crypto payment, verification code, or unusual shipping payment before providing credible evidence.
Meet safely
When an in-person handoff is appropriate, prefer a public, well-lit location and consider bringing another person. Do not let recovery pressure override basic physical-safety judgment.
Harassment, threats, impersonation, doxxing, scams, false accusations, and attempts to bypass another user's block are not acceptable. Use the in-product report and block controls when available.
