Trust & privacy

Careful
by design.

A recovery network sees where you lost things, what they're worth, and who might be selling them. FoundWall is built to hold all of that lightly — coarse locations, cautious matches, and evidence that stays yours.

Location rounded ≥1.5 km  ·  serials & chips hidden  ·  data held in Canada

01Location

Your last-seen point is an area, never a pin.

Every notice snaps to a zone at least 1.5 km across. We store the rounded area, publish the rounded area, and never expose an exact GPS coordinate — not to neighbours, not on the map, not in the listing.

Enough for the block to keep an eye out. Never enough to point a stranger at your door.

02Matching

A match will be a maybe. We say why, and we never accuse.

Resale-board matching is not live yet — this is the rule we are writing the feature against, published before the code exists. When a listing looks like your item we will bring it to you worded as a possibility, with the reasons laid out. We will not message the seller. We will not label anyone a thief. The judgement stays yours, and so does the evidence.

03Privacy

The identifying details stay hidden by default.

Serial numbers and microchip IDs are what prove an item is yours — so they are the first things we lock away. They are stored for you and surface only when you choose to release them. Every conversation happens in-platform; your phone and inbox are never on the wall.

04Residency

Canadian data, held in Canada.

Notices, photos and stored identifiers live on Canadian infrastructure and are governed by Canadian privacy law. Built Canada-first; a French interface is planned and is not shipped yet.

You can request an export or a deletion from the Privacy Centre at any time. Deletion runs through a reviewed workflow rather than an instant wipe, and records under legal hold, security or backup retention are kept until they lawfully expire — the policy sets out exactly which.

05The handoff

What you take to police is already in one place.

A tip is a lead; what an officer can act on is a record with dates on it. Your notice already holds the case ID, the coarse area, the reported date, the photos and the identifiers you kept private — readable on one page and ready to quote in a report. A one-click downloadable summary is on the roadmap; the panel here shows the fields it would carry.
